Directions to Pearl Garden Hotel

If you are coming from the South:
Take any jeepney going through Mabini, and tell the driver to drop you off at the corner of Mabini and Malvar streets. When you get off, turn right, straight to the first block. You will now be on Adriatico Street. To the right (across the street) is Caffeina. To the right of Caffeina is the door of Pearl Garden Hotel.

If you are coming from the North:
Take a jeepney with the signage "Mabini Harrison" (but not Dakota Harrison), and say you're getting off at the corner of Sinagoga and M.H. Del Pilar streets (You should see the Alpha Grandview Condominium to your left). Sinagoga is two blocks after Pedro Gil Street.

Once you reach this corner, turn left and go straight until you reach the next corner, which is Mabini Street. Cross the street and go to the nearest corner (Alonzo and Mabini Streets). Go straight until you each Adriatico Street, then turn left. You should see Pearl Garden Hotel on your right.

Please check your email for a message from the Conference organizers (email: upmclimatechange at gmail dot com) regarding last-minute arrangements not later than Monday night. We will upload a map of the venue in case you are not yet familiar with the Pearl Garden Hotel. Thank you very much and see you on October 22!

DepEd releases advisory of climate conference

The Department of Education has advised the Conference Secretariat today that the UP Manila Conference on Global Climate Change has been included in the Department advisory to be circulated Department-wide.

A copy of the advisory will be sent to the College. Afterwards, we will upload it in the Endorsement page for downloading of interested participants.

CHED endorses UP Manila climate change conference

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has approved the endorsement of the UP Manila Conference on Global Climate Change to be held on October 22-23, 2009 at the Pearl Garden Hotel.

A copy of the endorsement is posted in the Endorsement section for downloading of interested university and college participants.

Submission of abstracts extended

The deadline for the submission of abstracts for paper presentation is extended to September 25, 2009.

UP Manila calls for awareness on climate change issues

Manila, August 17, 2009 -- The University of the Philippines Manila College of Arts and Sciences is joining the call for an immediate and collective effort to mitigate the grave effects of global climate change as it holds its conference on Global Climate Change on October 22 to 23, 2009 at the Pearl Garden Hotel, Ermita, Manila.

With the theme “The Science and Social Impact of Global Climate Change: A Philippine Setting,” the conference will highlight the effects of global climate change to different natural and social resources and development initiatives.

With renowned authorities as speakers on the environmental, social, legal and other aspects of global climate change, the conference will benefit individuals and organizations in the academe, research, development policy, environmental and natural sciences, and advocacy.

Aside from the plenary sessions, the conference has parallel sessions which will serve as a venue for presentation of research studies completed by various organizations. The parallel sessions will discuss Energy and Environment; Society; and Health.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the liberal arts unit of UP Manila, the Health Sciences Center. CAS holds the distinction of being a Center of Development for its BS Biology program.
